Installation
Trading Strategy Engine ships as a licensed binary library for Windows and Ubuntu. Installing it takes three steps: download the archive, run the installer, use the engine.
1. Download
Open Account, choose your Trading Strategy Engine license under
Licenses, pick your platform — Windows x64 or Ubuntu 26 x64 — and press
Download. The archive carries the library, its C and C++ headers, the Python
module and your license file, license.tsel, issued for this download. The
download link is single-use; request a new one on the same page whenever you need the archive
again.
2. Run the installer
Unpack the archive and run the installer inside it: install.cmd on Windows,
./install.sh on Ubuntu. On Windows, install.cmd starts the
PowerShell installer with the execution policy bypassed for that one call, so Windows does not
block it.
The installer places your license where the engine looks for it —
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TSE\license.tsel on Windows,
$HOME/.tse/license.tsel on Ubuntu — and records TSE_LICENSE_PATH in
your environment; open a new terminal for it to take effect. The same instructions travel with
the archive, in README.md.
3. Use
Link the library from C or C++, or load it from Python through tse.py; the
Loading the library section
of the reference shows how. The first start of the engine binds the license to the machine it
runs on; nothing else needs activating. To validate its license, the engine must reach the
internet at least once every 7 days.
Moving to another machine
The license runs on one machine at a time. To move it, open the license in Account and press Move to another machine. Then run the installer on the new machine, from the same archive or from a fresh download, and start the engine there: its first start claims the license. The machine you leave keeps working until its current lease runs out. Four moves are allowed in any twelve months, and the license page shows how many are left.
